Best Laid Plans....
One of the things we enjoy most in this life is the ability to plan for our future. Whether that future lies in minutes, hours, days, weeks or even years ahead, the ability to plan for it is ours and ours alone. For some people, these plans, once laid, come to fruition. It is amazing. It is as if all they do is think 'it', and 'it' happens. Then there is that other group of people who plan as best they can, but it is like the pieces keep getting moved around. As frustrating as it is to have your plans changing every time the wind blows, have you ever stop to notice that the unexpected changes can actually yield pretty amazing results? I plan to take notice of these unexpected, but amazing results more often. Care to join me?

I woke yesterday, a mission to do
Fight for my country, take care of my soldiers
Get trained and prepared to follow our orders.
Be a good mother and a loving wife too
While keeping a positive point of view
These tasks I did gladly with honor and pride
But there’s more to this woman than meets the eye.
I woke up today in my own comfy bed
After the sun rose but before it set again
I soaked in my tub and I cooked up a feast
I laughed, danced, and traveled northeast
These things I did gladly with joy and delight
‘Cause there is more to this woman than meets the eye.
I’ll wake up tomorrow, a mission to do
Fight for my country in a foreign land
Keep my soldiers safe, support my command
Be a good mother and a loving wife too
While maintaining a positive point of view
These tasks I do gladly with honor and pride
As there is more to this woman than meets the eye.
Fight for my country, take care of my soldiers
Get trained and prepared to follow our orders.
Be a good mother and a loving wife too
While keeping a positive point of view

Icy Surprise Conjures Up Fond Memory
I woke up this morning thinking 'blah blah blah, just another day', till I walked out of my room at the EZ and was greeted by an icy surprise. A thin fresh layer of snow covered everything as far as my eyes could see. For a minute, I was transported back in time to one of my fondest memories. While staying at a resort hotel in Germany, mid winter, I had the privilege of swimming in an indoor/outdoor pool. I saw people swimming in the outdoor section and thought 'they must be insane; it's cold and it's snowing out there'. But the joy on their faces could not be ignored. I was eventually drawn beneath the threshold that separated the indoor folk from the out door folk and was immediately overcome by the thrill of it all. With snow swirling around my head and melting just as it touched the warm water, I felt like I was in a living, breathing 'snow globe'. Humph!!! I think I walked around with a smile on my face for weeks after that.

Fugitive Captured After Several Years on the Run...
That was the headline. After several years of purposely running away from Combat Life Saver Training, I was apprehended. I know, I know... the skills learned in this course are invaluable. I agree, but it goes against my nature to 'volunteer' to participate in activities where needles and blood are key players. Several weeks ago, sources close to me let me know that my name had come up on a 'List', and that the command was hot on my trail. I simply did not have the time or resources needed to make my escape. I gave up without a fight, completed the course, and now I proudly stand before you - CLS certified. I could not have done it without the support and encouragement of my fellow classmates and instructors. Thank you all.
